Claire Taylor grew up in Texas and Michigan, but has long since called Baltimore home where she lives with her husband, sons, a goofy dog, and an extremely spoiled old cat.
Claire’s first poem, published at the age of ten in Highlights Magazine, was about what it might feel like to be a leaf. More recently, Claire’s writing has focused on the experiences of motherhood and mental illness. She loves writing that explores our humanity, relationships, and the emotional experiences that foster empathy and human connection. She also enjoys joyful, humorous writing for children, especially stories that encourage creativity and self-acceptance, and celebrate a desire to take care of the world and each other.
Claire is a nationally and state Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She has spent more than a decade operating her own therapeutic massage practice, where she specializes in integrative bodywork to treat chronic pain and tension, help relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression, and assist in the management of prenatal and postpartum wellness.
Claire is a graduate of The University of Michigan, where she studied psychology with a specific focus on depression and mood disorders.
When Claire is not writing or working, she enjoys running, reading emotional family-saga novels, or frothy, contemporary romances, and watching movies that she’s already seen a hundred times.
Claire welcomes any opportunity to talk about her writing, perform her work, or speak with kids about creative writing and publishing. If you would like to set up an interview or classroom visit, please contact Claire at ctaylorwrites@gmail.com.
